2025-09-05: Temporary ATV Trail Closure Due to Invasive Species

Please be advised that a small section of the ATV trail will be closed starting this morning (Friday September 5, 2025) due to the presence of Dog Strangling Vine, an invasive plant species.

The affected section runs from behind Building E-181 through to Falaise Road (Range Road). This portion of the trail will remain closed until the plant is under control. A date for the reopening of the trail is unknown.

Alternate Route:
ATV users will need to bypass the closed section via Plains Road, Ortona Road, and Falaise Road. Please contact the Military Police to obtain permission for operating ATVs off the designated trail.

The map highlights both the closed section and the suggested detour for reference. Signage will be installed to clearly mark the temporary detour.

While there is currently no formal policy in place, all trail users must thoroughly clean their ATVs before using base trails if the vehicles have been operated off-base. This helps prevent the introduction of invasive species and maintains the integrity of our trail system. These ATVs must also meet the requirements to use the road such as licence plate, lights, horns.

2025-08-22: Indoor Archery Range Maintenence

For all users of the indoor Archery facilities, please be advised that cleaning, maintenance and updating has begun and is expected to continue until the hunter qualifications in September. The indoor ranges will remain open, as long as they are safe to use. Should they need to be closed, a notice will be added to the website and signs posted.

For the safety of users and volunteers,  please do not move or remove anything from the affected lanes. If you choose to utilize the lanes during the maintenance period, be cautious and courteous of your surroundings and the ongoing work of volunteers.

Your Archery directors Jay Merner and Rob Warner are asking for your understanding and patience during this time. Any questions can be forwarded to them directly and/or the the Interim Club President, Todd Craft.

Protecting Turtle Nests on Base Borden

We’ve placed turtle-nest protection boxes along the ATV trail beside the large pond at the Pegan site—and two more on the west side of Catawampus Pond. You’re free to ride around them, but please do not touch or drive over the boxes. All turtle species are now federally protected, and these boxes help safeguard eggs and hatchlings.

If you—or any member—spot turtles laying eggs (or any sign of nests), please let us know right away by sending a message through the website’s Contact page or emailing our Communications Director.

Thank you for respecting wildlife and keeping our trails safe for everyone.

Important : Please check the calendar the night before any event in case there are last minute changes.
Be sure to click on the event and a window will open with the according event details.
